Submission formats

Paper

Papers are oral presentations lasting 15 minutes, plus 10 minutes for questions and discussion. They will be scheduled in 90 minute sessions which will normally include 3 papers on similar themes. The conference organisation will nominate a chairperson for each session who will take care of time and manage discussion.

A paper proposal is submitted by one author plus up to three co-authors. The abstract (max. 750 words excluding references) should include a problem statement and/or clear research questions, a conceptual framework, findings and a conclusion.

Symposium

A symposium consists of a 90 minute conference session organised by the submitters. It includes 3 to 5 linked papers in order to tackle a specific theme or issue. Symposium organisers are expected to chair the session and to facilitate discussion.

The symposium needs to be handed in as one submission (max. 2000 words) with a description of the symposium and a list of all abstracts for all papers linked to it. A Chairperson and a Discussant, who can offer a critique of the symposium as a whole, need also to be named in the proposal abstract.

Discussion room

A discussion room is a special 90 minute session that fosters informal discussion among a smaller group on a specific topic of interest. Think of this format as an official space for chatting with colleagues around a specific theme.

Proposals for a ‘discussion room’ should be submitted by at least two authors. The abstract (max. 750 words) should include a clear problem statement that will be presented to and discussed with the audience.

Poster

Poster sessions combined the graphic display of research studies with the opportunity for individualized, informal discussion throughout a 90-minute session. Accepted posters will be grouped by the program chair into structured poster sessions.

The abstract of a poster proposal (max. 750 words excluding references) should include a problem statement and/or clear research questions, a conceptual framework, (expected) findings and a conclusion.

Proposals for posters can be submitted either for the pre-conference or for the main conference.
